The stretching process used for SCS sheets makes the steel grain structure very uniform, eliminating even residual stress. It makes SCS sheets “ultra flat.”
The result? When you punch, shear or laser cut SCS stretched sheets, you won’t see the spring-back you often get with leveled sheets. Roller leveled sheets may arrive very flat, but still contain residual stress. This causes the sheet to deform when sheared or lasered. Not with stretched SCS sheets - they remain flat during fabrication. In fact, TMW guarantees 1/4 ASTM A568 Table 15 tolerances after lasering.
