Achieving the smooth, uniform SCS surface requires blanks to be very flat. This flatness is not always achieveable with normal roller levelers, but it’s always achieved with TMW's Stretcher-Leveler.
This machine actually stretches steel sheets just beyond their elastic limit, removing all residual stress and shape ‘memory.’ But it doesn’t reduce gauge. A stretched sheet is almost perfectly flat, even if original material had significant edge wave or camber.
And stretched blanks remain flat even after cutting or punching. With no shape memory, springback won’t occur when stretched sheets are sheared, lasered or punched. The result - less scrap and better tolerances on fabricated parts.
